Dr. Bakshi is triple board certified and fellowship
trained in pain management at John Hopkins Hospital-consistently ranked
as the number one hospital in the country. Following his fellowship he
was an attending physician at John Hopkins, where he was actively involved
in teaching the residents and fellows. He is currently an attending physician
in the department of Pain Management and Palliative Care at Beth Israel
Medical Center in Manhattan. He is board certified in Anesthesiology,
as well as board certified in Pain Management by both the American Board
of Anesthesiology, as well as the American Board of Pain Medicine. During
his residency he received the Dripps award for the outstanding anesthesia
resident. Dr. Bakshi’s area of expertise is primarily in minimally
invasive therapies for the treatment of pain of spinal origin-neck and
back pain. For precise localization and an added measure performed under
X-ray guidance. Patients receive sedation if necessary. The procedures
he does include Epidural Injections, Selective Nerve Blocks, Radiofrequency
Facet Denervations, Sacroiliac blocks, Discography, Morphine pumps, as
well as IDET and Nucleoplasty. Dr. Bakshi is also very active in the field
of Spinal Cord Stimulation, and lectures extensively on the subject. He
has also published on the subject of Spinal Cord Stimulation. He is presently
involved in a nationwide multi-center study to evaluate the use of Spinal
Cord Stimulation in the treatment of refractory angina. In this capacity
Dr. Bakshi implanted the FIRST spinal cord stimulator for angina in this
region at Lenox Hospital. The procedure was transmitted live to Washington,
DC where more than 11,000 cardiologists were watching the procedure. Dr.
Bakshi prides himself in being very compassionate towards his patients.
He is well respected by his colleagues in the field. Other pain management
physicians visit him to see his techniques. He is an instructor for cadaver
workshops for pain management fellows and attending physicians in pain
management teaching techniques for spinal cord stimulations and intathecal
pumps.
